Today we are going on a tour of the Lexington battleship. We have driven close to it and have counted 12 or more airplanes on it on the top deck. There will be lots of climbing of ladder stairs. Peggy has a very sore knee so she may not be able to climb many of them. She may have to have surgery in Tulsa after seeing her specialist On the 20 of Dec. We will be meeting my Mom at the airport she will be with us for Christmas, we will bring her back to Corpus Christi for a visit till mid January.
I am missing my kids so very much, The outing today will help to cheer me up I hope. We will be having Christmas with Peggy`s kids on the 23 and travel back to Corpus on 25.

We are back from the Lexington had a wonderful day. We climbed steep ladder type stairs and toured this large ship. Very interestings , it made me feel very sentimental. The bunks the sailors slept are like boxes upon boxes in long rows, no privacy at all. It had a up to date hospital, with modern equipment to operate and fix the wounded , dentist chairs they did root canals, etc. and barber shops.
This ship is now a museum. And is anchoured on the bottom of the bay , so it does not float or move. It took us 3 hours to tour it and did not see all of it., 3/4 hour film of what the ship did in war time and what the planes lifting off the ship did. It makes you so proud of the people that gave their lives to make North America safe from the enemy.
Well my knees and leg muscles are sore this evening. I will need to get into the hot tub to sooth my aching muscles.

This Man Of War was about 6 inches long. some of them grow larger.
The parks people say they have never seen so many, on the beaches here. They come to the beaches to breed.

We are going over to the club house for pot luck they are serving brisket, if they cook it like my sister does it should be delicious.

this picture is of a Portuguese Man-Of-War.
This one was about 6-7 inches long. They come in with the tide. It does not seem to move much it can lift its body like a walrus. It is hard to tell which is his head or tail.
These dangerous creatures are found on north Padre Island beaches through out the year. These attractive, blue jelly-like organisims cause a painful sting, usually accompanied by redness and some swellingof the affected skin area. If stung seek first aid. a mixture of MSG and vinigar paste is applied which helps draw out the poison and sooths it. a small persentage of of those stung will experimence an allergic reaction, which can cause difficulty breathing numbnessin arms and legs, or elsewhere:sever pain and /or disorientation; or uncomfortableness. call 911. The other day David and Peggy took a drive down the beach with thier friends and they told us there was 1000 of them could not get out of the truck.

We went to the aquariam yesterday and learned about sting rays I will tell you about them later

This is the ship we went on a mini cruise 7 hours actually , it was a gambling cruise cost us
$9.00 for the day and we got a buffet lunch which was beautiful, fantastic service. Of coarse they expected you to go to the casino and loose your money. In Texas they do not allow gambling:therefore the ship had to go out into international waters before they could open the casino. The whole ship except the dinning room was casino. Mac and I sat out on the deck and met people who also did not gamble. I am sure glad it was a warm sunny day. I could not take my knitting as the needles, and scissors were pointed, They are strick just like the airlines. We had a wonderful day. I did walk through the casino it was so smokey and warm in there. In Texas they still smoke in restraunts and public places. They don't want you to loose your money gambling but they kill you with smoke. tee hee.

Today was another day at the beach we drove along it for 20 miles. The first five miles the park people keep the beaches clean. Well the rest of the beach was like a garbage piles, 5 gallon pails, cleaning jugs, beer and pop cans and bottles and all kinds of fishing nets and alot more was garbage scattered every where. We were told it wqashes up on the beaches from all over the world. Whave a clear picture of ships dumping garbage over the side of the ship. It is a disaster . We asked for garbage bags beforedriving down the beach . We brought back 1/2 truck load of garbage, just in a space about fifty feet, were we were parked . We were sea shell hunting and was told it was the best place to go.
We are home now and getting ready to go to a pot luck and the club house.

I just tried to post a picture of the ship , Not doing oit , will keep trying

We have been in Corpus Christi.4 days and have packed alot of scouting. Today we are visiting flea markets. One is very close to us. Mac has started his business of Knife sharpening. The owner told him to post his cards at the club house, post office, and office.

We were beach bums yesterday, the saqnd here is normal grey sand . I got a bit tanned. We drove along the shore for miles, went wading in the gulf of Mexico. It was quite warm. The water is a bit sandy. At Gulf Shores last spring the water was very clear and cooler, the sand was white, it seems very strange because this is all the Gulf of Mexico.from Florida to here.

We walked along a pier and watched the surfers catch the big waves. it made me feel like it would be fun. I am sure I would be spurting and sputting the salt water due to taking breaths at the wrong time. I am too brittle boned to do it.
Our RV lots are very close together but sufficent, all cement and white stones , no grass, or mud. The neighbours are quiet. We have not met them yet we have been busy scouting. One day the novelty will wear off and we will stay put longer.

Peggy my sister have not scouted out wool, material shops as yet, after all we have six months down here, can't do everything in a few days , but we are trying Teeheee.
Our lot backs into bushes behind us so do not have back yard neighbours.

I met our left hand neighbour and he poured his heart out to me. He has had a lot of deaths in his family. I was able to suggest to him to leave it in Gods hands and told him I would pray for him . He was so thankful that I would pray.

I am praying that I will be a strong testimony to others down here.

see ya another day
