this picture is of a Portuguese Man-Of-War.
This one was about 6-7 inches long. They come in with the tide. It does not seem to move much it can lift its body like a walrus. It is hard to tell which is his head or tail.
These dangerous creatures are found on north Padre Island beaches through out the year. These attractive, blue jelly-like organisims cause a painful sting, usually accompanied by redness and some swellingof the affected skin area. If stung seek first aid. a mixture of MSG and vinigar paste is applied which helps draw out the poison and sooths it. a small persentage of of those stung will experimence an allergic reaction, which can cause difficulty breathing numbnessin arms and legs, or elsewhere:sever pain and /or disorientation; or uncomfortableness. call 911. The other day David and Peggy took a drive down the beach with thier friends and they told us there was 1000 of them could not get out of the truck.

We went to the aquariam yesterday and learned about sting rays I will tell you about them later
